Understanding that life is a chain of fortuitous events, I set out to capture this phenomenon in painting and drawing. In 1991, I formed a new way of painting that uses chance to establish the final composition. Applying the forces of nature, I create work that comes as close as possible to the way a tree grows, a river flows or how life unfolds. This way of painting keeps me connected to the natural process of the universe. Every living moment is a present. Anything can happen to anyone at any time. This is at the core of my work.
